THE TWINS
February 17, 1998, mommy found out that she was going to have another baby. She went and told daddy at his office and daddy lifted her up and gave her a great big hug.
Let's go back a couple of days. On February 6th, we packed up our house to move from Victoria to Edmonton. Daddy wouldn't let mommy lift anything in the hope that she was pregnant.
On February 8th we landed in Edmonton, u-haul and all. Daddy started work for IBM that next day. On February 13, we moved into our place on the 21st floor of a highrise down town. Friends helped us move all the things from the truck inside. They wouldn't let mommy touch anything either.
February 28, mommy ended up in the hospital because she was having abdominal pain. They thought it might be a tubal pregnancy. They kept her over night and did an ultrasound on her the next morning. the ultrasound technician asked her if she was on fertility drugs. NOPE. She was just pregnant with us. Mother was stunned.
At about 8 weeks along she had a threatened miscarriage. They kept mom in the hospital for awhile. Actually she spent most of her time from February 28 to May 4th in the hospital. She lost 40 lbs while pregnant.
April 23, mommy had her gallbladder out. We were 14 weeks along. May 4th they put a central IV line in mommy. She was able to come home. Our big sister, Jessica helped mommy with the IV's.
At about 26 weeks along she started to go into pre-mature labour. They took lots of ultrasound pictures of us. They could even see us fighting with each other.
This is the both of us. Baby A is Jeremy and Baby B is Matthew
A. B
They managed to stop the contractions but still kept mommy in the hospital for a week so that they could monitor us. They sent us home but had 3 nurses coming in to see us each day. Mommy was not allowed to do anything. Not even watch our big sister Jessica. She did however have bathroom priviledges. Yippee!!!!!
On August 25th, mommy had the central IV line taken out and a peripheral one put in. When they poked her to put the IV in she started having contractions. She went home and by the time the antenatal nurse got there the contractions were about 15 minutes apart. The nurse called the doctor and they told her to tell me to just wait but if by 6 pm I was still having contractions to go in. As it turned out mommy's obstatrition was away on holidays.
Daddy took mommy in at about 7 pm and she was already 7 cm dilated. This is the way mommy looked at only 30 weeks along. Everyone kept asking her how she fit through doors.
At midnight the doctor came to her and said that mommy had 3 choices in the way to deliver. She could try pushing both out but Matthew was breach so it could have been dangerous. She could have delivered Jeremy naturally and Matthew c-section or deliver both c-section. Mommy choice both c-section. Matthew would have died had mommy not had a c-section because the cord was around his neck and no one knew about it.
They tried to do an epideral so that daddy could come in to but mommy couldn't bend her back enough. She was the size of 8 weeks overdue.
At 1:05 am Jeremy Tyler Watters was born.
I weighed in at a bouncing 3 lbs 13 oz.

At 1:06 am Matthew Ryan Watters was born.
I weighed in at a whopping 3 lbs 10 oz.
Our sister Jessica picked out the name Jeremy but mommy and daddy already had the name Matthew picked out.
After we were born, we had to stay in the hospital for 3 1/2 weeks. We were born at the Royal Alexander Hospital. Stay there for about a week then was transferred t the Misercordia Hospital because they were running out of room where we were and we were doing well.
Mommy stayed with us at both hospitals until we got out. She would go home and spend the night once in awhile. We got out on September 19, 1998. From the hospital we went to Grandma and Grandpa Watters's 25th anniversary.
More to come.
